Discipline
It is very important to note that online education takes a great deal of discipline. Many college courses may not necessarily require you to “attend” class at a specific day or time, many instructors do expect you to log into your class work once a day or at least a few times a week. You must be able to set aside time and keep a good schedule in order to stay with the class work.
Motivation
No online student would be successful without some sort of motivation. It can be so easy to become distracted with social networking or emails while working on your computer for school, not to mention watching movies, getting the latest news headlines, or blogging. Next thing you know, you’ll forget why you were on your computer in the first place and days could pass before you remember that you had coursework to do.
It can be easy to give up on your education if you know you aren’t required to be at a certain place at a certain time. By continuing to stay motivated you will be able to successfully keep up learning from home for the entire degree program.
Commitment
While you may have work and family lives you are committed to, your education must be a commitment too. A degree program can take years to complete, so having a strong commitment to your future means you must also be committed to your schoolwork. Making sure you set aside time for your classes, homework, and exams is vital.
