Accelerated BSN Degree

Accelerated BSN Degree Program Options and Information

Are you looking to become a nurse?

Or are you an RN or an LPN who is considering getting a Bachelor of Nursing degree?

Are you a college graduate with a non-nursing degree looking to switch careers?

There are a variety of accelerated BSN degree program options available for you, regardless of your current situation.  Choosing the right one means examining the program carefully and determining whether or not you’ll meet the entry requirements and whether or not the program will help you fulfill the qualifications and requirements set by your state for you to be a practicing nurse.

BSN Degree Programs for Non-Nurses

If you’re starting from scratch, a typical BSN degree program will take 4 years to finish. The first two years are devoted to typical core college coursework, and the second two to medical nursing studies.  Accelerated programs give you credit for core requirements you’ve already completed, and help you to test for certain credits using accredited exams.

Accelerated BSN Degree Programs for LPNs and RNs

If you’re already an LPN or an RN you have a considerable advantage.  RNs have, at least, their associate’s degree–which will cover most, if not all, the classes they need for the core liberal arts coursework element of their accelerated BSN degree program.  LPNs may not have college credits per se, but they have hands on experience which will serve them well when doing the nursing science portion of the course.

Accelerated BSN Degree Programs Online

Perhaps one of the best, most revolutionary new options available are accelerated courses to get your BSN–almost entirely online.  Of course, clinical work can’t be completed online–but you’ll no longer have to make time for scheduled classes, worrying about whether you’re going to take flack at work for rescheduling shifts–or even miss classes completely because you couldn’t find someone to cover for you.
