Accelerated College Degrees: Launch Your New Career in Less Time

Do you want to switch careers, but you’re not sure how to go about it?  Getting an entry level job in a field and “working your way up” just doesn’t cut it anymore.  When I wanted to make the switch from being a secretary to going into marketing, I tried everything.  I even work a couple years as an administrative assistant in a marketing company–the boss told me when he hired me there’d be room for advancement–what a joke that was.

That’s When I Started Looking at Accelerated College Degrees

Again and again, when I managed to land interviews in marketing departments, “But you don’t have a relevant degree, and we really can’t consider…” Don’t get me wrong, I understand that degrees are important!  I have one, after all–in English.  But it wasn’t doing me a bit of good.  I couldn’t see putting my career off for four years to study, though.  Just to get another degree.  It wasn’t the amount of work that bothered me, but the time. I’m not getting any younger–none of us are! But when I started looking into degrees, I came across information about accelerated college degrees–and that changed everything.

What are Accelerated College Degrees

There are a bunch of different kinds of accelerated college degrees, but basically it means any program that is designed around you getting your degree in the least possible amount of time.  I got mine from a school that had a strong program for transfer students, utilized CLEP exams (that’s where you take an exam and get college credits) and had 6-8 week condensed coursework for the rest of the credits I needed.  I only had to take one semester of actual classes–then I finished up a last few credits by studying on my own and taking the CLEPs.  I had my Bachelor’s in Marketing–and now I have the job I love!
