If you’ve had enough of competing fiercely for jobs that hardly pay enough to be worth it, don’t compound the issue by majoring in something that’s not going to make you desirable in the job market.  One word of warning though–an accelerated bachelors degree in one of these high demand fields is not for the meek!

Making Your Degree Pay: Major in Mathematics and Science Based Technical Fields

Just having a college degree doesn’t guarantee you a job, and certainly doesn’t guarantee you a big pay check.  But some degrees are worth a lot more than others when you’re looking for work while the ink is still fresh on your diploma.  An accelerated bachelors degree in engineering, for example, with almost any concentration, will serve you well.

Aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, and computer or electrical concentrations in engineering practically guarantee you an entry level job making nearly twice the salary of a humanities major starting out.  Programs in other engineering fields, like environmental engineering, industrial engineering, and mechanical engineering are also turning out grads with plenty of job options.

Other degrees which pay for themselves quickly are degrees in physics, statistics, and economics.

Getting an Accelerated Bachelors Degree in a Math or Science Field

Keep in mind that these majors are very challenging and even those who have a talent for mathematics and hard sciences should remember that an accelerated program, while it is faster, is certainly not easier.

Accelerated degree programs depend on accelerated courses, which means you’ll be studying just as much information as someone in a traditional program, but be expected to learn it in about half the time they are expected to learn the same material.

If, however, you can take the heat and want to get your degree, an accelerated bachelors degree in one of these highly demanded fields is a great investment.
