Good Paying Careers and Professions for Women
The issue of equal pay has been one debated for decades, and while the gap is closing the amount a woman makes versus a man is still significantly different in many professions.
When trying to find the best paying career as a female you should look at those professions that ignore gender issues, and pay a stable salary based on position, education, and qualifications.
Forbes did a list of the top paying professions where women could make the highest amount despite the unfair gap in female versus male pay.
The statistics are based off of a survey by the U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau, and some of the jobs are actually surprising, especially given the 80% pay on the dollar ratio that women’s pay has been stuck at for years.
Best Paying Careers For Women
- Computer Scientists and System Analysts – $56,264
- Speech-language Pathologists – $58,448
- Human Resource Managers – $59,124
- Management Analysts – $59,228
- Physicians and Surgeons – $63,960
- Computer and Information Systems Managers – $65,520
- Computer Software Engineers – $70,252
- Lawyers – $78,468
- Chief Executives – $83,356
- Pharmacists – $85,644
The jobs above have some of the better ratios for male and female pay. However, only one – Speech-language Pathologist – will give you a 100% equal pay to a male coworker. The others average between 60% – 80%. It shows a serious problem with the way women are still viewed in the workforce, but it also shows that times are changing once again, and we are making progress.
If you are looking for a higher pay rate as a woman, the jobs above are your best bet. They may significantly more than some positions, which will only offer woman around $0.40 on the dollar.
By making your stand, you just might be one of the factors in changing that, and showing the world that women have more than proved that they are equal in the office, and should get equal pay.
