One thing that you can do is to check the top 10 colleges with online classes. Online Education Database or OEDb has a good list. The organization utilized a unique and reliable ranking system to come up with these top online schools. They also did not include all schools in the nation that offer distance learning classes. Only those that are accredited by the Distance Education Training Council, listed on eLearners.com, and part of the distance learning and online education search on Peterson’s were included.

After coming up with the list, the OEDb then set to narrow down the schools according to several criteria. For one, the college must be accredited. This ensures that the school produces students that can contribute important knowledge to the workplace. Another criteria is inclusion in the College Navigator. This is a resource, which, under the guidance of the US Department of Education, helps students compare universities and colleges. Another criteria used was that the college must have more than one degree-granting undergraduate program online. And if the college has on-campus programs, more than half of the undergraduate programs must be offered online.

If the school met these criteria, it is then ranked according to several ranking measures. After this, the total score is computed. Nova Southeastern University received a total score of  9.213, making it the number online school in the nation.
